French artist Bertrand Lanthiez created a audiovisual installation by projecting white light along criss-crossing woollen threads. Called Sounds of Threads, the installation comprises strands of wool stretched between four wooden stands, with beams of white light projected across them in time to a piece of music.
Artist Daan Roosegaarde, inspired by Van Gogh, will contaminate Eindoven with the first light-emitting bike lane. The thousands of stones making up the path absorb sunlight during the day and then glow with a fluorescent light during the night. The installation will be completed in 2014. These techniques are part of a project called Smart Highway. Check it out: http://bit.ly/K8ZQhb

A weightless floating polar bear… ‘byuku’ is a life-size hanging sculpture by Nahoko Kojima which is cut from a single sheet of paper to create a graceful swimming polar bear. The weightless animal creates swirling shadows that invoke a sense of movement and grace, whilst its delicate paper form reminds us of its fragility in a changing natural world.
